Haefely Test
AG, leading manufacturer of test- and measurement equipment
for high voltage, established in Basel, Switserland, offers the MIDAS 2880.
The Midas 2880 from Tettex Instruments is a mobile insulation diagnosis and analysing system
designed for testing at power frequency 50 or 60 Hz. High accuracy in substation testing is
possible and longterm stability of system accuracy is assured by using a gas insulated standard
capacitor as an internal reference arm and self calibrating measurement sensors.
The device is ideally suited for periodic maintenance and inspection of HV insulation losses on
power transformers, bushings, motors, generators and similar equipment in harsh electrical environments.
Midas 2880 automatically measures and records dissipation factor, power factor and all other relevant
values of impedances in the shortest measuring time.
Damage or changes in the insulation material are detected
rapidly and reliably at local power line frequency. Its 302 mm touch sensitive, sunlight
readable colour display and graphical user interface create a highly visual environment of
the instrument’s advanced measuring and analysing features. Predefined test sequences linked with
limiting values can be automatically performed on-site and a first assessment result obtained.
Built-in standard interfaces enable easy data exchange with a host computer for data collection, reporting,
printout, statistics and advanced analysis.
The Midas 2880 is suitable for a wide range of applications.
For example, a 15 kV voltage output, together with the resonating
inductor 5288 allows testing generators with 25 kV nominal voltage
according to IEC 34.
